Water Clarity:
Murky in the river section and starting to clear towards the main Dam. There is some algae which moves around with the wind direction.

83.12%

Fishing Area:
From Mpalane Bay, in front of Nkwazi Lake Lodge, Pump Station, the bay as you pass the KZN Wildlife campsites, Elephant Bay in 2 - 8m of water and towards the mouth of the river where it enters the main Dam. Be careful of tree stumps in the water.

Average Size:
Tiger Fish caught during the month ranged from 1kg 3.2kg.

Biggest Fish:
The largest one of 3.2kg was caught on sardine. Fishing has picked up nicely since last month.

Other Conditions:
The Dam level continues to increase due to the good rains received in the area and in the river catchment. Nice to see the Dam back at this level!

Total Tiger Fish:
An average of 675 Tiger Fish were caught off the Pongola Game Reserve boats.

Other Species:
A few Silver Catfish and Barbel were caught while fishing for Tiger Fish, using sardines and chicken livers.

Bait of the Month:
Sardine was once again the bait of the month. Live bait, chicken livers and chicken hearts also worked well in the murkier water.

General Info:
There has been a marked increase in the fish caught this month, in particular the youngsters did very well! Dont miss out on this great experience, no need to go to the Zambezi or Kariba for Tigers when this great resource is on your doorstep!
